Warren recently had his 6th Gen Camaro ZL1 transported down to our Facility from Tennessee. Warren contacted us to discuss his build with the expectations of maximizing the performance of his ZL1 while staying on pump gas with the addition of a camshaft for an aggressive lope at idle. For Warren we decided on our Stage III performance package for the ZL1 along with a few additional modifications. Warrens build featured:

• Griptec 2.30” LT4 upper Supercharger Pulley
• ATI Balancer Kit for LT4 wet sump
• Lingenfelter 18% 9.17” Lower pulley
• Gates Green HD supercharger belt
• Vengeance Racing CNC ported LT4 Cylinder heads
• Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus for LT4
• 180* Thermostat
• LTR7IX Spark Plug set
• KOOKS 1 7/8” Header system with Catted Connection Pipes
• Vengenace Racing high temp spark plug wire insulators
• Corsa Sport Axle Back Exhaust system w/ black tips

So to start we pulled the engine out and began the build. We installed our Vengeance Racing Cam Kit Plus which includes:

• - Vengeance Racing Custom Camshaft w/ 32% Fuel Lobe Upgrade - Stage II
• - BTR .660" Lift Dual Valve Spring Kit w/ Ti Retainers
• - Vengeance Racing 3/8" Hardened Pushrods
• - C5R Timing Chain
• - SD Bushing Trunion Upgrade
• - CompCams Phaser Limiter
• - GM VVT Cam Bolt
• - GM Crank Bolt
• - GM LS7 Lifter Set
• - GM Lifter Trays
• - GM MLS 6.2L Head Gaskets
• - GM LT Exhaust Gaskets
• - DOD Delete Plug Kit
• - ARP Cylinder Head Bolt Kit

With the cam installed our Vengeance Racing CNC Ported LT4 Cylinder heads.

Warren had already installed a Roto-Fab Cold Air intake system so the next step was to swap pulleys. For this we went with our tried and true set up with a Griptec 2.30” Upper pulley, ATI Balancer and Lingenfelter 9.17” Lower Pulley. We have used this set up multiple Heads/Cam ZL1’s with great results. To this we added a Gates Green HD supercharger Belt.

To help push the added air out of the engine we chose to run KOOKS 1 7/8” Longtube Header system with Catted Connection Pipes into a Corsa axle back exhaust system. This along with our Stage II camshaft provides an aggressive exhaust sound that Warren was looking for.

With the install complete it was time to head over to our chassis dyno for some numbers. With this combination Warren’s ZL1 put down 716rwhp and 757rwtq on Pump Gas. Warren was blown away with the results of his ZL1 and couldn’t wait to have the car transported back home for him to begin ripping up the back roads of Tennessee.
